You might be able to update it through the HP Help and Support program.

You will have to search to find the firmware for XP. Please let me know if this helped you. I did follow through on the audio, even though I know it had nothing to do with the DVD burn.

I read your recommended posts and finally found dvd-raj on the Microsoft web site, a sentence at the bottom of a knowledge base article, that stated DVD Audio burn is not supported for XP on WMP Message 5 of 6.
